Artist Reflection
Lucas Regazzi considers his drawing practice a kind of writing. I can very clearly picture Lucas creating these marks on paper on the floor of his room in a cloud of chalk. To me, the most comparable notion to this work are those moments right before you’re about to doze off when the most exciting thoughts come to you; an idea you’ve been working through, suddenly solved! Your body is fighting you on holding that though. You consider getting up to jot it down. Instead, you decide to give in to your body and hope that come next morning, you will remember. More often than not though, you know that these thoughts will most likely not be there the following day. Eventually, you come to terms with these thoughts existing only in the 4th dimensional space between your brain and the pillow and you look forward to their next visit; same place, same time.
